Women are superheroes, even if their capes are invisible. We take care of everybody and all the things, all the time. But even superheroes need self-care.

That's why you should Show Yourself Some Love.

Join us for our third annual women's wellness event in Temple, Texas. Get tips on how to be more productive, creative, healthier and happier. (Hint: making your health a priority is a great place to start.)

Fitness, weight loss, hormones, long-term health and how to reduce body aches and pains—we'll cover all that and more in this fun, fast-paced day focused on women's health and wellbeing.

Patricia J. Sulak, M.D.

Patricia J. Sulak, M.D.

A physician, professor, author and renowned researcher and speaker, Dr. Sulak is passionate about improving the lives of everyone she encounters. She and her husband, Jeffrey A. Waxman, M.D., are co-founders of Living WELL Aware, a holistic wellness educational program. While internationally known for her innovative research on difficult women's medical issues, her current endeavor is assisting men and women of all ages in elevating their health and happiness.

Dr. Marlow Griggs

Dr. Marlow Griggs

A Texas native, Dr. Marlow Griggs has been in the Temple area since 2009. She graduated from Texas A&M College of Medicine and Baylor Scott & White Family Medicine Residency. Helping patients with weight loss grew as a passion starting in 2019. She became a diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine in 2021 and currently sees Westfield Clinic patients for weight loss-focused visits as a large part of her practice. Dr. Griggs has four children who keep her busy; she enjoys traveling the world and spending time with family and friends.

Ariane Hollub Secrest, Ph.D., OTR, CHES®

The Founding Director of the UMHB Public Health Program and an Assistant Professor in the School of Health Professions, Dr. Secrest is a member of the American Public Health Association, Texas Public Health Association and the Texas chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine (TACSM). She's also the Associate Executive Director of TACSM, a Past President of the Temple Founder Lions Club, a board member for the Ronald McDonald House Charities-Temple and a member of Altrusa International - Temple. She and her husband reside in Temple with their two puppies, Henry and Wyatt.

Tammy Hebert is a physical therapist with experience working with people from 0 to 110 years old. She was board certified in geriatric physical therapy and is a certified functional manual therapist. She has a passion for helping people move with greater ease, no matter their current abilities.

Dr. Mandy Parra

Dr. Mandy Parra

Dr. Mandy Parra serves as an Assistant Professor at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and Director of the UMHB Human Performance Lab. She earned a Bachelor of Science from Hardin-Simmons University and her Master's degree in Exercise Science (with an emphasis in Strength and Conditioning) from Baylor University and finished her academic career at the University of Kansas, where she earned her Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology. Dr. Parra is long-standing member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). She enjoys outdoor recreation activities, mountain biking, trail running and weightlifting! Dr. Parra lives in Belton with her husband Aaron, two sons and two dogs.

Tara is responsible for planning, developing and coordinating community outreach and member engagement activities for Baylor Scott & White Health Plan. Her team provides support to members who need assistance accessing healthcare as well as social services that impact overall health.

Temple Community Clinic, with the support of donors and community partners, delivers quality care for the uninsured and underinsured within the healthcare gap, providing access to leading doctors, social work services and health and wellness education.

Amy Yeager

District Director, Bell County Public Health

The Bell County Public Health District provides services such as immunizations, sexually transmitted disease (STD) testing and prevention education, pregnancy testing and family planning services and disease surveillance services to eligible citizens of Bell and surrounding counties. Health protection services also include the provision of nutritional services through the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program, consumer protection through the Environmental Health and Food Protection Program and the preservation of community function and safety through the Public Health Preparedness (PHEP) Program.

There is NO CHARGE to anyone who wants to attend. This event is brought to you Baylor Scott & White Health Plan and our sponsors.

Registration is encouraged but not required. We would appreciate you letting us know if you're coming and how many kids/adults are in your group, so we can plan how many snacks/giveaways to have on hand.

Show Yourself Some Love is a community-wide event open to any and every woman in Central Texas. The RightCare Baby Shower is for RightCare members and a guest (separate registration required). Participants who are not attending the baby shower will hear from Dr. Griggs during that time, then everyone will come back together for lunch and the rest of the program.

Yes, but please be advised that childcare will not be available.

Women tend to put themselves last on their list of priorities — and that includes taking charge of their own health and wellbeing. But what happens if you get sidelined by a medical issue? Who will take care of everyone and everything then?

At this event, you will learn ways to Show Yourself Some Love so you can live a healthier, happier life. It's all part of our commitment to empower you to live well.

If at all possible, yes. However, we understand that you have other commitments and may need to arrive late/leave early. Just know that you'll get the most out of the event if you're able to attend all the presentations.
